Velitron ("we", "us", "our") is a pan-African advertising technology company delivering data-driven digital marketing services for brands across African markets.

02What this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information we handle in two distinct situations, and our role differs in each.
As a data controller
When you visit velitron.net, contact us, apply for a role, or deal with us as a client or supplier, we decide how and why your information is used. This policy governs that activity.
As a data processor
When we run advertising campaigns on behalf of client brands, we process personal information according to their instructions and under a separate agreement with them. In those cases the client is the controller, and their own privacy policy governs how that information is used. If you have questions about advertising you have seen from one of our clients, contact that brand directly, or contact us and we will direct you.

We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal information such as health data, biometric data or political opinions through this website, and we ask that you do not send them to us.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time by emailing us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.
05Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only where necessary, and only with:
- Service providers who help us operate, including website hosting, form handling, email and analytics providers, all bound by contract to protect it
- Advertising and technology partners, where relevant to delivering a campaign, and in line with our agreement with the client concerned
- Professional advisers such as accountants, auditors and lawyers, where needed
- Regulators or law enforcement, where we are legally required to do so
Our website is hosted and our contact form is processed by a third-party hosting provider. Enquiries submitted through the form are stored by that provider and forwarded to our team by email.
06Cross-border transfers
We operate across multiple African markets, and some of our service providers store or process information outside your country of residence.
Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected, including working with providers that are subject to comparable data protection laws or that offer contractual safeguards, in line with the requirements of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act.
07How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires.
- Enquiries that do not become clients: typically up to 24 months, then deleted or anonymised
- Client records: for the life of the relationship, plus the period required for legal, tax and audit purposes
- Unsuccessful job applications: typically up to 12 months, unless you ask us to remove them sooner
- Website analytics: in line with the retention settings of the analytics tool in use
08Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, understand how it is used, and improve it.
- Essential cookies are needed for the site to function and cannot be switched off
- Analytics cookies help us understand which pages are useful and how visitors move through the site
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
Note: if you add analytics, advertising pixels or any tracking beyond essential cookies, data protection law in Nigeria, South Africa and several other markets requires that you obtain consent before those cookies are set. A consent banner should be in place before those tools go live.
09Your rights
Depending on where you are, you have rights over your personal information. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, these include the right to:
- Be told what personal information we hold about you and how we use it
- Access a copy of that information
- Have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected
- Ask us to delete information where there is no good reason for us to keep it
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest, including direct marketing
- Ask us to restrict how we use your information in certain circumstances
- Receive your information in a portable format, where applicable
- Not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that significantly affects you
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it
- Lodge a complaint with the relevant regulator

10Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to a regulator:
- Nigeria: Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC)
- South Africa: Information Regulator (South Africa)
11Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including access controls, encryption in transit, and agreements with the providers we work with. No system is completely secure, but we take this seriously and review our measures regularly.
12Children
Our website and services are directed at businesses, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through this website. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to tell you.
